Letter #27 - Week 29: Clásica Semana Cinco y Conferencia General
April 8, 2019
Hola Everyone!
This week was absolutely wild with General Conference. It is such a wonderful blessing to here from our living prophet and apostles who reveal to us revelation for our day. Just as Christ did, they teach in simple, easy to understand parables and stories. These can help us to understand and share the gospel with those around us. Living the gospel takes conscious effort and time. Doctrine and Covenents 131:6 reads: "It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance" Preach My Gospel further elaborates that: "For you to grow in the gospel and stay on the path that leads to eternal life, you need to develop a habit of gospel study". While we must draw on the power of Jesus Christ each day in order to continually progress, it is all within our capacity. Because "it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength" and Christ knows us perfectly, He'll never ask us to do something we can't without His help.
This week was a classic week 5 of the transfer, which means we didn't find any new people to teach. We did well getting people to Conference though (Luna came to "church" for the first time and is excited to come back next week!) and it went faster than any other week this transfer, so it was too painful. We're planning on passing week 6 with flying colors and helping lots of people come closer to Jesus Christ.
The people that we're teaching seriously right now are all doing pretty well, they're overcoming roadblocks and learning and growing more and more about the gospel. It is a miracle to watch the atonement of Jesus Christ working right before your eyes, even though at times it's slower than you'd like, especially in yourself. It is important to focus on incriminatal progress, because many times that's all you'll ever see.
Ludin prayed for forgiveness for making us laugh in our lesson with him on Friday.
A theme that stuck out to me during General Conference was the importance of home making. The importance of making our home a sanctuary is only going to increase as time goes on. It is important to ask for, practice, and develop that gift as soon as possible.
In case anyone hasn't figured it out yet, the Book of Mormon is basically just a bunch of promises strung together with explanations. Studying through the Book of Mormon this time I've been taking the Isaiah chapters 10 verses at a time and actually thinking about it and it's a lot more pleasant.
1 Nephi 21:8-11
8 Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time have I heard thee, O isles of the sea, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee my servant for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners: Go forth; to them that sit in darkness: Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
10 They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them; for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.
11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
¡Os Amo!
