Letter #20 - Week 22: I Don't Know About You, But I'm Feeling 22-2-2/2
February 18, 2019
Church. Prayer. Reading. Commandments.
Long ago, the two Melchizedek Priesthood quorms lived separately in harmony, but everything changed when President Nelson became prophet. Only the Holy Ghost, master of the convincing power, could mesh together these two quorms together. But when the world thought no more could be done, there was. Six months passed and President Nelson revealed more revelation, a program called ministering. The saints are adjusting great, but the church has a lot to do before it's ready to usher in the Second Coming. But I believe that Jesus Christ will continue to change the world.
Hola Everyone!
The missionaries of New York City were having as peaceful of a week possible when an Elder posted in the Mission Chat early Friday afternoon. Get wrecked. Everyone lost their minds and two mission-wide phone calls, an email to parents, and messages of clarification later, we've finally made it to the big day. Turns out that family means your parents and siblings who live with them, so it's a bigger change for some people than others. It'll be really interesting to see the adjustment period and what this means for missionaries and la obra misional.
Lots of wonderful things happened this week. Our responsibility is to help others come closer to Christ by helping them on their next step on the covenant path. As we focus on ministering, it is vital that we focus on truly becoming more like the Savior and to help others grow as He did. Whether that be missionaries helping others prepare for baptism, taking care of the people in our own family, or helping those who we are assigned to minister to. Those covenants and the associated promised blessing are what is going to bless the lives of those around us the most. Two people that we're teaching came to church for their first time yesterday! We had three other people come to church as well, so it's been a very encouraging week. Everyone has their struggles, but struggles tend to be more manageable when you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.
"Please remember tomorrow, and all the days after that, that the Lord blesses those who want to improve, who accept the need for commandments and try to keep them, who cherish Christlike virtues and strive to the best of their ability to acquire them. If you stumble in that pursuit, so does everyone; the Savior is there to help you keep going. If you fall, summon His strength. Call out like Alma, “O Jesus, … have mercy on me.” He will help you get back up. He will help you repent, repair, fix whatever you have to fix, and keep going. Soon enough you will have the success you seek." -Jeffery R Holland
1 Nephi 19:23
23 And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.
