Hermana Prue's 2-day Journey Home

Image
March 18,2020 Hermana Prue left New York on March 18th and flew into Detroit to change planes. Because of an earthquake near Salt Lake City the airport there closed down for a while and the plane was delayed. Then delayed again, and again, then canceled. They scheduled her for other flights that were then canceled. Finally, she was able to get a flight to Salt Lake that landed close to 10:00 PM and couldn't get a connecting flight to Idaho Falls until the next morning. Kelly was able to pick her up and a former mission companion, Alyssa Jeppson came along! Because of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) she couldn't hug anyone and had to stay 6 feet away from others. She spent the night with Kelly and was on a flight the next morning to Idaho Falls! March 19,2020                                        At the airport she couldn't hug anyone so I printed ...

Letter #75 - Week 78: The Final Will and Testament of Hermana Allison Alyssa Prue

March 16, 2020 Hola Everyone! Here's the account of this week. Mainly just Corona, but lots of good things happened as well. We've had a lot of calls and messages about Corona and what we should do and shouldn't. For the most part missionary work in New York is continuing as normal. The biggest difference is really just being outside. It's a little bit of a ghost town, especially where we live there is a large Chinese population. Lots of masks and gloves and more hand sanitizer than I've ever seen New Yorkers use in my entire life. We went to a Korean restaurant last week at 4 pm, and it ended up just being us and one worker in the entire store by the time we left at 5 pm. One of the mission wide calls we had was a really good experience. President Teuscher talked about how this would hasten the Lord's work and soften the hearts of the people, now and in the future. When we talk about Corona in the future, we will have the opportunity to say that we were...

Letter #74 - Week 77: Holiness to the Lord, House of the Lord

March 16, 2020 An account of the people of South Brooklyn, namely Hermana Prue, Hermana Haws, the South Brooklyn district, and the people they teach. This is according to the account of Hermana Prue; or in other words, I, Hermana Prue, wrote this record. About March 3-11 2020 AD. Hola Everyone! Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the temple. It had been a year since we had gone because of the temple closure last year, and we got in just in the nick of time, because the temple closed the next day. It was a memorable trip with President and Sister Tuescher, and we all got to do an endowment session with them and sealings as well. I got to go with Sister James, a Chinese speaking missionary, and that was lots of fun because we were roommates for a couple of weeks at the begining of our missions. We've been doing a Zone Initiative here in Brooklyn where every companionship talks to 20 people a day on trains, buses, knocking, or in the street, and it's been lots...

Letter #73 - Week 76: Come, Ye Children of the Lord

March 2, 2020 Hola Everyone! What a fire week: -Elder D Todd Cristofferson came and spoke to us on Saturday. It was uplifting and empowering to be with an Apostle and just surrounded by goodness -We've all been opening our mouth like crazy here in South Brooklyn, and we all found three new people to teach this last week which has been a struggle, but here we are with things looking up -Got to knock some n-i-c-e Catholic doors who don't accept Protestant propaganda. Luckily we don't live the protestant life #RESTORATIONnotREFORMATION 2 Nephi 26:24 24 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation. ¡Os Amo! -Hermana Prue

Letter #72 - Week 75: Brooklyn Bridge is Standing Tall

February 24, 2020 Hola Everyone! This week was non-stop adventure! I had my last interview with President Teuscher on Tuesday, and it was really good. Just a time to feel the love and talk about plans. I got to go on an exchange with sweet Hermana Patchell. It was so good to be her companion again and we had a blast in Manhattan. I also got to go on an exchange with Sister Bahr, a Haitian Creole speaking missionary. She has an incredible testimony of obedience. That was back to back exchange, which apparently was a bad idea, because I got the flu and was out for the next two days. Today marked the first ever New York New York City district activity day. We went to the Brooklyn Bridge and enjoyed North Brooklyn together. The gospel is true, even when you have the flu, Mosiah 3:19-20 19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the nat...

Letter #71 - Week 74: Whoops For Winter 2020

February 17, 2020 Hola Everyone! Luckily South Brooklyn's performance of 'Mountains to Climb' at Zone Conference went better than expected, it was lots of fun! We focused on the Plan of Salvation. I feel like it helped me focus on the things that matter most, not only in missionary work, but in life as well. We had two exchanges this week, one with the Staten Island Hermanas (Hermana Van Woerkom and Hermana Crow) and the Brooklyn YSA Sisters (Sister McClara and Sister Scott). I got to be with Hermana Van Woerkom, which was super tender because this time last year we were companions. It was so much fun to share our experiences and see how much we have learned and grown. One fun thing that happened as well, we ate dinner at the house of someone we taught in Flushing together's great grandma! So that was kind of crazy, but it was also perfect. Sister McClara is straight fire, she's training out of training and just has so much love and energy for the w...

Letter #70 - Week 73: Preach My Gospel Ch. 10 and Area Book 4.5

February 12, 2020 Hola Everyone! Hermana Haws and I were able to make a seamless transition to the new transfer and jump right into the work that needed to be done. Heavenly Father had a storehouse of miracles waiting for us on the way as well! We did some digging on some marriage and divorce laws, and it meant good news for some of the people we're teaching! It was really good to let them know and we're going to be working hard on that in the next couple of weeks. There was an update on area book a while back where records of people are deleted after two years if the person in question hasn't shown interest in the being taught by the missionaries. One thing we like to do is to send people whose records are about to be deleted a call or a text to give them one last chance before they're released into the wild. We texted a lady named Michelle, and she said that she would be coming to church, and then she did! That was amazing and we were able to get an appointmen...
