Letter #75 - Week 78: The Final Will and Testament of Hermana Allison Alyssa Prue
March 16, 2020
Hola Everyone!
Here's the account of this week. Mainly just Corona, but lots of good things happened as well.
We've had a lot of calls and messages about Corona and what we should do and shouldn't. For the most part missionary work in New York is continuing as normal. The biggest difference is really just being outside. It's a little bit of a ghost town, especially where we live there is a large Chinese population. Lots of masks and gloves and more hand sanitizer than I've ever seen New Yorkers use in my entire life. We went to a Korean restaurant last week at 4 pm, and it ended up just being us and one worker in the entire store by the time we left at 5 pm.
One of the mission wide calls we had was a really good experience. President Teuscher talked about how this would hasten the Lord's work and soften the hearts of the people, now and in the future. When we talk about Corona in the future, we will have the opportunity to say that we were missionaries in New York City during that time, and that will open conversations about the gospel.
Our sweet recent convert Pedro passed the sacrament for the first time! He's been nervous to do it, but because church meetings have been suspended, we were able to have a little gathering with him, us, a member, and Pedro's nonmember friend Carlos. It was a tender moment and it was good to see him take that next step.
These past 18 months have been one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. Thank you so much for all your love and support!
2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind
¡Nos vemos pronto, y os amo!
