Letter #58 - Week 60: Cabeza, Cara, Hombros, Pies
November 11, 2019
Hola Everyone!
Transfer calls came on Saturday, and Hermana Connolly and I will be staying together for another transfer. Elder Garner will be finished with his mission and going home, and Elder Cuevas will be heading out to Long Island for his last transfer. Elder Meyer and Elder Homer will be joining the district as office Elders, and everyone else is staying the same. Hermana Connolly and I are excited to make Christmas time the best time to be a missionary.
After 67 hours in the apartment of on and off sleeping, Hermana Connolly was able to recover enough to start proselyting again Wednesday morning. She is feeling lots better.
I had a bonus exchange with Sister Ingersoll and we had probably the most blanaced exchange of studying, teaching, and finding that I've had in a while. Sister Ingersoll really wanted to try the Milk and Cookies place in our area, so another ice cream run we had.
The people we're teaching may be few at the moment, but they are doing well. We were able to meet with some of our ward leaders and have really constructive conversations with them in correlation with our training with President Mortensen. We've been working hard to take care of the recent converts as well, and we've been able to visit them slowly. It's comforting to know that no matter the circumstances, as we try our best our days are filled with little miracles.
On Saturday Evelyn invited us over for dinner. We taught Carlos about following the prophet and obeying and honoring the law, but as well we've been endeavoring to teach Carlos primary songs. We sang 'Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes' (or in Spanish 'Head, Face, Shoulders, Feet') and he enjoyed it. A lot. We probably did it at least 10 times, and let me tell you, it's a lot harder to get from your shoulders to your feet than it is to go from your knees to your toes. I tried to give it 110% though and as a result I'm still sore. The only thing that took more strength that night was to finish the mountain of food that Evelyn gave us for dinner.
Alma 7:9-13
9 But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying—Repent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh upon the face of the earth.
10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.
¡Os Amo!
-Hermana Prue
