Letter #56 - Week 58 - Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Image
October 28, 2019 Hola Everyone! This week was absolutely wild with a million miracles in every corner. Carlos and Evelyn were baptized yesterday! All of our plans went in every direction, but it all turned out in the end. They have come so far in the past months and they were so excited to make this next step. The temple is where we're heading for them!  Exchanges with Hermana Walker! She is obsessed with pumpkin spice, and I tried all of her pumpkin spice things while I was with her. It's been my dream to get ice cream from an ice cream truck, and my dream came true. Hermana Walker goes home in two weeks, and if Hermana Connolly and I don't go to transfers, then that could be the last time I see her for a little bit. Hermana Connolly and I decided we wanted to be known in the mission for carrying around candy, because we found that when we give it to people it brings them a lot of joy, but the problem is that we eat the candy too. The...

October 21, 2019 Hola Everyone! Exciting events of the week: -North America North East States Area devotional with President Ballard and Elder Christofferson -Interviews with President -Exchanges with the English Bronx Sisters (Sister Matthews pt II) President Ballard told us that we needed to pray for America and tell everyone we know to do so as well. He discussed our religious and civil roots and how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was able to come to the Earth. One of the people we're teaching surprised us last Monday night and got married! We were so happy to hear it and we're hoping that she will be baptized very soon. She has a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the importance of Him in her life. Sister Connolly and I got to hike out in the rain. It's been getting dark early lately and the dark made it more adventurous. We were able to hunt down a guy that we've been trying to for the past couple of weeks, and it turns out that he...

Letter #54 - Week 56: One Year Older And Wiser Too

October 14, 2019 Hola Everyone! Fitting in appoints in the morning before our meetings was our specialty this week. We decided that we could squeeze in a short appoint in before Zone Conference Friday (and one before district council Saturday), and we still got in plenty of time for breakfast! Zone Conference was full of exciting surprises. Expanded communication policy, WiFi, and clothing reminders as the weather gets colder. All of the people I reported to the MTC with were at Zone Conference, so we took a celebratory photo. Hermana Gonzalez noted in her weekly email that we had taken a picture exactly a year before at the Mexico Temple Visitor's Center. So, I stole the picture and it is attached below. I think my favorite part is that we ended up in the same order. At zone conference we discussed the Law of Chastity and some more about righteous technology and social media habits. We also talked about helping people get to church and online proselyting. Hermana Conn...

Letter #53 - I've Never Used The Metric System Outside Of Math So Much In My Entire Life

October 7, 2017 Hola Everyone! Hermana Connolly and I have been having the grandest adventures this week discovering New Rochelle. York and Rochelle aren't the only new things around here. Hermana Connolly is from New Zealand! She has been keeping my math brain in shape as I convert pounds to kilos and Fahrenheit to Celsius. We haven't quite gotten to meters, but today when going grocery shopping we discovered that a gallon of milk is about 3.78 liters. I've been trying to keep up with all of her kiwi slang, and these are some of the favorite things I've gotten to say this week: "You can probably probably just chuck that into the rubbish" "Do you make your milo with milk or water" "Hermana, it went from like 32 to 17 overnight" "I want to take the football out of the boot, but someone might want it later" Favorite Expression of the Week: -Being gutted Other exciting developments from half blinding in: -They forgot t...

September 30, 2019 Hola Everyone! President Teuscher isn't afraid to do crazy things for transfers, and this transfer is no different. I'm going to be transfered to New Rochelle! I will be companions with Hermana Connolly. She's still pretty new to the mission, so I haven't had the chance to meet her yet, but I'm very excited! It should be transfer full of miracles and happiness. Some events from the week: -The lock on the Yonkers gate was switched from a key lock to a code lock. I was able to get the code right, and was very proud of myself. The spooky part is that nobody knows who changed the lock -Sister Tuescher cleaning checked our apartment and we extra deep cleaned to make her proud -Our people are doing great, they're making lots of progress -The church is still true -The Book of Mormon videos are prime Mosiah 14 ¡Os Amo! -Hermana Prue
