Letter #44 - Week 46: Skidding For Summer 2k19 ft The Amazing Annabelle

August 5, 2019

Hola Everyone!

The highlight for this weekend was definately Annabelle getting baptized and confirmed this weekend. You could feel the Spirit so strongly during the baptismal service and during the ordinances. She has come so far in these past couple of months that we've been meeting with her, and we're all excited to see where she's going to go moving forward.

We go running every morning for exercise and life decided to spice things up for me and I tripped and skidded just a little bit on the sidewalk. It wasn't as bad as the infamous #fallingforfall2k18 trip, and I didn't get a fresh battle wound shot, but it still left its mark. The mark on my elbow kind of looks like Long Island, so that's my newest conspiracy theory of where I'm going #takemetowestbury

Speaking of which, during interviews on Tuesday, President basically sat me down and asked me how I was feeling about getting ready to leave Stamford. Today marks my five-month mark of being here in Stamford. It's crazy to think that in my time here, I have had 4 companions, been on over 10 exchanges with 5 different Sisters, taught tens of people, talked to hundreds of strangers, and been stretched more consistently then I probably ever have in my entire life. I didn't really know how I felt, and it's still a little weird to think that I'll be going anywhere else. President Teuscher ended that particular conversation with, "Well, we'll see where the Lord needs you next," which reminded me that not only that God directs this work, but also that He has a plan for me, and I (and even President) only get to see it one step at a time.

This week in my studies I found myself reading about Joseph Smith losing the 116 manuscript pages. It lead me to ponder about how Heavenly Father's perfect plan allows us to make mistakes, even large ones. We cannot mess up God's plan for us. The righteous actions and decisions of others past, present and future allow for our bad decisions not to frustrate God's work. While we should never mock the Atonement of Jesus Christ by sinning purposely, we can act in confidence knowing that this life is the time to learn and grow.

Doctrine and Covenants 3:1-10

1 The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.

2 For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.

3 Remember, remember that it is not the work of God that is frustrated, but the work of men;

4 For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him.

5 Behold, you have been entrusted with these things, but how strict were your commandments; and remember also the promises which were made to you, if you did not transgress them.

6 And behold, how oft you have transgressed the commandments and the laws of God, and have gone on in the persuasions of men.

7 For, behold, you should not have feared man more than God. Although men set at naught the counsels of God, and despise his words—

8 Yet you should have been faithful; and he would have extended his arm and supported you against all the fiery darts of the adversary; and he would have been with you in every time of trouble.

9 Behold, thou art Joseph, and thou wast chosen to do the work of the Lord, but because of transgression, if thou art not aware thou wilt fall.

10 But remember, God is merciful; therefore, repent of that which thou hast done which is contrary to the commandment which I gave you, and thou art still chosen, and art again called to the work;

¡Os Amo!
