Letter #36 - Week 38: The Roaring 20's
June 10, 2019
Hola Everyone!
We were able to be a part of some pretty big miracles this week, which is what we needed since we've spent so much time in meetings. We found THREE people to teach without KNOCKING A SINGLE DOOR. That's what I call member missionary work, what a time to be alive. We've been also been working on including members in lessons through video, where the member introduces themself, bears testimony of a gospel principle, and invites the person to church. We haven't tried it out much yet, but I think they've been experimenting with it in Manhattan and have been finding a lot of success.
So there's this Owl City called 'In Christ Alone' that we listen to in the car sometimes. It has meaningful lyrics, but it's definately one of the more techno ones we listen to. Our fine YSA pianist Doug had the special musical number yesterday, and I saw that he was performing a song called 'In Christ Alone'. I laughed and just wishpered to Hermana Jeppson, 'Owl City, haha' then just went on my merry way expecting it to be different. When the time comes, Doug plays a note on the piano, then comes to the front and STARTS SINGING THIS OWL CITY SONG A CAPPELLA. He did a very good job, it was just so unexpected it blew me away.
Last Friday we had a fireside with Elder John Groberg. It was fun to hear some of his mission stories in person and we brought some people who loved it. I think that's the first time I've watched non-Church movie clips since the MTC when they showed us a scene from the Lion King 😂 I have a dress that I wear every time (with a couple of exceptions) I see President Teuscher. It's was all fun and games until Sister Jeppson became a Sister Training Leader and saw President a lot more. This commitment reached new heights as I wore the same dress in front of President three times last week. Highlight of when we saw President the third time (for the fireside)- He parked next to us! When we we're leaving we snuck some pictures of us touching his Tesla- I love President.
Heavenly Father always gives us so many opportunities to apply what we're learning and to learn and grow each day. He is our loving Heavenly Father, and we can know that what He asks of us is for our eternal good. I know that as we take the opportunities that are given to us, God multiplies our efforts and makes them enough. I am so grateful that I get to be serving the Lord and doing His greatest work full-time.
Luke 22:39-46
39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
¡Os Amo!
-Hermana Prue
