Letter #30 - Week 32: The Number of Times it Takes for Me to Parallel Park Properly
April 29, 2019
Driving Update- We are currently sitting in the local Firestone of Stamford waiting for our flat tire to get fixed. This morning we were driving to the church to have our dash light up saying that the tire pressure was low. To our horror, we watched in drop lower and lower as we approached the church. Fortunately, we made it to the church just fine and started to call Elder Palmer (our vehicle coordinator) to decide what we should do. HEAVENLY FATHER PROVIDES A WAY. A member and two of her kids were in the church parking lot after early morning seminary waiting for her husband to come to the church because one of her kids forgot their backpack at home. The husband was able to get the spare on in a jiffy and it's been a great adventure. Also, I can't parallel park (or park in general), but it's been getting a lot better.
We had an amazing initiative this week were we talked about baptism with all of the people we're teaching. Unfortunately, this led to us taking all four of our people off of baptismal date, but we saw a lot of miracles and made a lot of progress with everyone we were teaching.
We had Zone Conference on Friday l, and we talked about repentance and working with members. You all have guilt from not working with the missionaries as much as you should, haha. The area president of the Northeastern States Area is visiting some of the stakes in our mission, so we'll have the opportunity to meet with him this week.
We had the chance to eat rolled ice cream this past week. It's something that I wanted to try in Flushing, but it was winter and when we went to the rolled ice cream place it was closed. 10/10 recommend at least once. It was fun to watch and pretty yummy too. Deer frolic around CT and when we were looking up some people who committed to come to church then didn't, there were three just munching on the hillside.
A lot culturally happened this week. Avengers: Endgame came out, Taylor Swift released a new song. Both things I'd be enjoying right now if I were at home with my friends and family. It's interesting to feel how far away it is, even being in one of the wordliest cities on Earth. I'm grateful to know that no matter how hard it gets or how much is going on around me, there's no place I'd rather be.
2 Nephi 6:12-18
12 And blessed are the Gentiles, they of whom the prophet has written; for behold, if it so be that they shall repent and fight not against Zion, and do not unite themselves to that great and abominable church, they shall be saved; for the Lord God will fulfil his covenants which he has made unto his children; and for this cause the prophet has written these things.
13 Wherefore, they that fight against Zion and the covenant people of the Lord shall lick up the dust of their feet; and the people of the Lord shall not be ashamed. For the people of the Lord are they who wait for him; for they still wait for the coming of the Messiah.
14 And behold, according to the words of the prophet, the Messiah will set himself again the second time to recover them; wherefore, he will manifest himself unto them in power and great glory, unto the destruction of their enemies, when that day cometh when they shall believe in him; and none will he destroy that believe in him.
15 And they that believe not in him shall be destroyed, both by fire, and by tempest, and by earthquakes, and by bloodsheds, and by pestilence, and by famine. And they shall know that the Lord is God, the Holy One of Israel.
16 For shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
17 But thus saith the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for the Mighty God shall deliver his covenant people. For thus saith the Lord: I will contend with them that contendeth with thee—
18 And I will feed them that oppress thee, with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood as with sweet wine; and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
¡Os amo!
