Letter #13 - Week 15- "Uhh, dude, how do you say 'rude' in Spanish?"

December 31, 2018 Hola Everyone! This was a jam-packed week. It started off with service of wrapping Christmas presents at the mall on Christmas eve. All 17 missionaries that go to our building were able to be there. It was wild and lots of fun. Together we collectively speak English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and Turkish and come from 3 countries and at least 7 different states. The people we serve are even more diverse, whether they lived in Queens all their lives or just moved from China, moved from El Salvador 20 years ago or from Korea raising their family. In no other place in the world can you experience so much of the world. It has been so incredible to see the breadth and depth of Heavenly Father's children on the earth. So many are prepared or preparing to fully accept the gospel of Jesus Christ into their lives. It is beautiful that Heavenly Father allows us to play a small role in His perfect plan. Later that night we went to our Branch Presiden...

Letter #12 - Week 14: I Literally Just Copied and Pasted Hermana Jensen's Weekly

December 24, 2018 Hola everyone and Merry Christmas!! This week was awesome! We saw so many miracles and we were able to do lots of service 😊 Most exciting moments of the week: - ZONE CONFERENCE. I'm not sure I can describe how amazingly life changing it was, but I will try to tell you all a bit about it! First of all, it is just so amazing to go to a meeting like that and to look around at 75 or so other 18, 19, and 20 year olds that are also dedicating their lives to the Lord for 1.5-2 years. The Spirit confirms to me every time that what we are doing is truly the Lord's work! We are gathering scattered Israel one street contact, smile, or tarjeta at a time. This zone conference was a little different from others because it was all about Christmas. President Teuscher shared a message about the Premortal Christ and His premortal glory. I wish you all could have been there to hear it. I won't even try to describe the message, because it was so special. I almost felt like...

Letter #11 - Week 13- Santa is Filipino

December 17, 2018 Hola Everyone! As Christmas get closer it seems as though we have so many events and people to talk to! During the holiday season people are so much more open to hearing a message about Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father prepares his children to receive the restored gospel, and when they do blessings are poured out in them, even when they don't realize the source. We sent Hermana Tua'one home this week, and she's #adjustingtopostmissionarylife like a champ. We found out that the New Chinese sisters in our area didn't have a place to stay in yet and would be rooming with us for a time! That was a shock and a little frantic as we tried to adjust our little apartment for four. It's been lots of fun though and they will be able to move into their own apartment tomorrow. We were able to set up a light the world hot chocolate booth in an attempt to find new people to teach. It's always good fun talking to people on the street, espe...

Letter #10 - Week 12- "My name is Sister Tua'one. No, no, it's okay- Two-ahh-on-ehh. That's perfect!"

December 10, 2018 Hola Everyone! This week we will be saying goodbye to my wonderful companion la Hermana Tua'one. She will be returning home to Texas to continue her efforts in building the kingdom of God. I have learned so much from her, and her wisdom and experience has greatly blessed my life and all those who we speak to each day. Because the new Korean missionaries already came last week, we only have people leaving the district. Elder Bennion will be serving in the Brooklyn YSA ward and Sister Choi will be serving the Manhattan YSA ward. Both of them are exceptional at working with young adults and their work will inspire and change the lives of many. Going to Manhattan was an eye-opening experience to say the least. The buildings just keep going up and up. There is lots to see and experience in NYC, and every part brings something new. Being here has been an excellent opportunity to learn and love and really see the true diversity of Heavenly Father...

Letter #9 - Week 11.5- Just Your Friendly Neighborhood Hermana

December 6, 2018 Hola Everyone! This week our preparation day is later in the week because Hermana Tua'one is going on her departing temple trip! All of us get to go up to Manhattan, and I am excited to spend the day there. Rick was baptized on Saturday! He has been taught by the Elders these past few months and he was so ready. This is the first baptism I've seen on my mission and it was a wonderful experience. I felt the spirit strongly and it helped reaffirm my testimony of this gospel and the changes it can bring into people's lives. The Korean missionaries have a different arrival schedule than everyone else, so for a few short days, we have a 14-person district with only 5 companionships. Our last district council was wild with so many people. It'll be sad to see some of the district members go, but I am so grateful for the people I have been able to meet and their examples to me as missionaries and people. Yesterday we went to the park that we j...
