Letter #6 - Week 8- Aquí Somos Católicos
November 12, 2018
It was an exciting week here in Queens. I went to my first zone conference, and Elder Haynie from the seventy was there and taught us lots of good things, especially the importance of going to church. There were a handful of zones there, so I got to see the Heramanas that I roomed with at the CCM, as well as Elder Lambert from my MTC district.
Speaking of people that I know, Elder Spencer Lee is in my district. I forgot to mention that last week, but I went to high school with him. It's amazing to see the Lord's hand in our lives when it comes to the people He puts in our paths.
I also my first set of exchanges this week, so I was out on Long Island for a day. It was interesting for a change of pace, but I was happy to get back into the city.
We tried to mix up weekly planning this week. A majority of it was done in the church's elevator and a bagel shop. One of the members works at the shop, so we went and said hi to her and had lunch there. I got a rainbow bagel, which was pretty good. I'm trying to try as many new things as possible while I'm out here.
Lots of plans ended up falling through this week, and we did lots of knocking on doors and walking through the streets. Lots of people have 'Here we are Catholics' stickers on the doors, and it always makes me nervous to knock on those. Overall though, my knocking experience has been fairly positive, and knocking brings miracles.
Mosiah 7:18-19-
18 And it came to pass that when they had gathered themselves together that he spake unto them in this wise, saying: O ye, my people, lift up your heads and be comforted; for behold, the time is at hand, or is not far distant, when we shall no longer be in subjection to our enemies, notwithstanding our many strugglings, which have been in vain; yet I trust there remaineth an effectual struggle to be made.
19 Therefore, lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God, in that God who was the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob; and also, that God who brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, and caused that they should walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, and fed them with manna that they might not perish in the wilderness; and many more things did he do for them.
Love you all dearly!
Hermana Prue
